journal: Fravela rising
We watched a flim called Frevala rising in class. This movie was about a guy and he struggles with the drug's around him. The movie took place in the slums of Rio de janerio, Brazil where drug's were the way of life and many people were dying for it. Anderson Sa, our main character doesn't like this way of life, he wants to do something different after seeing his friends and innocent people die. So, he came up with agro-reggae which celebrate his culture in music and dance in the hopes that the life of drugs and violence would be over. This movie was very touching and I feel like people should watch this to see how music and dance can bring people together. This movie tells you so much about the human spirit and how music and change a lot. The movie made me think how we as American take so much stuff for granted and how we can change the way people think just by getting involved in music. I think the quote from the movie of the ghetto being like a Phoenix rising from the ashes is a very good symbol for what was happening there in the travel a.
