The news articles from http://www.wusa9.com/news/article/199344/158/Japanese-Folk-Dance-Has-Modern-Appeal-With-Locals-And-Students-. This article talks about student people in the sounding area joined in celebration for the 100th year anniversary of the planting of the cherry blossom trees. In this celebration the people learn a traditional Japanese dance called Daidengaku. This dance was on of the most popular dances in Japan during the 11and 16 centuries. The students danced in traditional clothing while dancing to traditional music that was played during their performance.the dance was made from the worker in rice fields according to this article. Follow the link above to see the dancing that the college students did. This performance happened March 28 of 2013 at George Washington university.I chose this article because it reminded me of the Japanese play that we talked about in class called the kabuki and how the dance had to change with the times. This dance talked about has a modern twist just like kabuki with only male performer.
