Journal : bluegrass music

During class we had a special visit from Eddie Green, a bluegrass artist. He taught us about the different styles and reasons behind bluegrass music. He says that bluegrass is made from three cord that are played on an instrument and the truth that the singer speaks. There are many famous people in the bluegrass world  like Bill Morrow who is known as the father of bluegrass, Dexter Jordan, and Robert Johnson, who is known for being the king of blues. At the beginning of his presentation, he talked about how many of the songs came from traditional Irish, Celtic, and old time fiddle music. As the music came from different place so did the instruments, some of the instruments like the banjo came from Africa. As he taught us more and more about bluegrass, we discovered that people used music as a way to rebel against authority. This presentation was really informative. It taught me that music is universal and that you can get meaning out of anything.I think that I will have a new look at music.
