Journal: Songcatcher

Today we watched the movie Song catcher. This movie tells about a musicologist, Lilly penleric, who goes into the mountain and tries to captures the songs of the people who live in the mountains. Our musicologist journey starts when she visits her sister in the mountains of  Appalachia after being not getting a promotion at the university that she worked at. when she is visiting her sister she discovers that the people of these mountain know Irish ballads  and songs that have  been past down though generations. as she is collecting these song, she finds a man named Tom who falls in love with her. as the movie plays on you find out that all of her works get destroyed and that she gives up on her dream of getting the music of the mountain published in her book. This movie I found to be very good and very inspiring. though I was a little disappointed because the movie never really explain how the book of song came to be.
